About Letternerd

Letternerd is a free platform for playing and making social games with words, in your browser. Pick a game or describe your own, share a room code, and everyone plays: party games, trivia, bluffing, couples games and study sets for revising together. No signup, no download.

Letternerd at a glance

What it is: A platform for playing and making social games with words: party games, trivia, bluffing, would you rather, couples games and study sets, all played in the browser with friends.
Cost: Free to play. Gold, the in-game currency, is earned by playing. AI credits, for making games with AI, come with an account each month and can also be bought.
Where it runs: In a web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install.
Accounts: Not needed to play. You are a guest until you add an email or Google sign-in.
Players: 1 to 20 per game, depending on the game.
Games: 88 built-in games for all ages and a separate 18+ shelf, plus games made by the community.
Pace: Live, with countdowns, or over several days, taking turns whenever you are free.
Make your own: Describe a game in a sentence, or turn a document or link into one, then play or publish it.
Study sets: One thing people make is revision: turn notes, a file or a link into a quiz, or write questions, and revise them alone or with a circle of friends. See Letternerd for students.
Age: For people 13 and older. 18+ games need an account and an age added first.

How Letternerd is different

Rooms, not accounts. Someone hosts a game and shares a code. Friends join as guests in seconds, from the link or by typing the code, so the person who has never heard of Letternerd is playing before they have been asked for anything.

Real people first. Every game is built around what your group knows about each other: who is most likely to, which statement is the lie, what your partner would pick. AI players can fill an empty seat, but the games are for the people in the room.

Games that never run out. Anyone can describe a new game and play it tonight, and the marketplace has games other people made that you can play and remix. What gets made is up to you: a party game for Friday, a quiz about your city, a set of questions for your exam.

Who it is for

Groups of friends, families, couples and people far apart who want something to do together that is quicker to start than a board game and more personal than a quiz, people who make games for their own crowd, and study groups who revise the same material together. There are games for couples, a shelf for long-distance relationships, family-friendly games, and a separate shelf of games for adults.
